About Us

Youth America Inc. is a 501 © 3 Brooklyn-based community organization founded in 1984 by Keith Lewis. Mr. Lewis - an alumni of Hampton University - excelled in accounting and business during college, while also playing basketball alongside NBA star Rick Mahorn. Upon graduating, he sought to share the constructive power of athletics with youth in his childhood neighborhood by founding a summer basketball league in Crown Heights, Brooklyn. This league formed the seed for what eventually became the full-fledge multi-service organization, Youth America, Inc. Today, YAInc. annually provides services for over 7,000 Brooklyn youth and their families.

Youth America’s mission is to assist in the creation of a better society by administering a wide range of educational, cultural, recreational, workforce development, health and social activities for the enrichment of community residents. Youth America actively collaborates with other community service providers to deliver effective programming. YAInc.’s cornerstone initiative is its Bridge to Business (B2) internship program administered through the organization’s women’s clothing boutique, Brooklyn Vogue, located in Fort Greene, Brooklyn.
